Riding a Bike

0 comment(s)
This is a post about Sheraz riding his bike! For record purpose. LOL. (Warning: Some information may be out of date.)

I once posted about Sheraz's tricycle which we bought somewhere early last year (January 2011). He was 16 months old. Here are the snippet photos of the post.

So we bought him a bike at the end of last year (December 2011) - He was 2 years and 3 months old. We were so proud that he could pedal and steer so well at the first attempt. But note, he only could push the pedal half way round. He just didn't seem to get enough push with one pedal to get the other one back round. Here's a video of how he rode the bike.

He's been riding the bike for about 9 months now. I was just out of idea on how to train him. He didn't listen and I thought that he's just comfortable with the way he pedaled.  AND  guess what, only recently he's able to pedal a full circle! Oh I'm such a proud parent. Now that I don't have to worry. He'll need to practice more so we can consider to take the training wheels off.

Organized Little Boy

Sheraz is an organized little boy. He just likes lining up all his cars and sorting balls by colours. He puts remote controls back into their pocket, puts anything on table in parallel with the table edge. LOL. He may not do his own dishes but he puts his plate in the sink. No doubt, it's genetic!

Bunda's Note: Up to date, all kinds of vehicle or anything on wheels is Car, be it lorry or bus. He can differentiate but he just prefers to say "car".

On the Mother's Day

I love the DH for many reasons, one of them is his thoughtful and sensitive nature. We celebrated Mother's Day by going out. (what else?). The most important thing is his effort to make us happy. I chose where to eat, no cook for the weekend okay! and Sheraz spent the day playing at the playland.

I love being a mom!

At the end of the day, DH bought his mother and myself a cake and handbags each for both of us! I wished my mother were around. My mother and MIL gave me the inspiration, without them I never knew how strong a mother can be.

Happy Mother's Day to every mother who's reading this :) Let's keep being strong.

Car Seat Battle

8 comment(s)

I've been having terrible time to sit him in his car seat. This almost happens everyday. It's getting frustrating to stuff a red-faced, howling 'baby' into it. I can't let him sit unbuckled cause he prefers to sit on my lap and play with the steering. There's no way I can drive with him climbing and play with the gear! He just can't sit still.

I like to give him something to play with, to distract him but that doesn't always work. Yesterday he screamed his head off and throwing a tantrum to not go in the car seat. So what I did was I spent 20 minutes pointing to all the moving cars and trucks, counted them one by one until he got bored and surrendered.

Yes, he has to know that bunda just won't give up.

Look What He Did

.. to my new specs!

I had had a shower, the next thing I knew is Sheraz was sitting on the desk and almost everything on it was on the floor, except for the PC and its speaker - luckily. And God loves us cause the little guy didn’t fall down or worse. It seemed that he’d dragged a chair and used it to climb to the desk to get the telephone. (This is the reason why we disconnected our phone cable and nobody can get through to our home phone line.)

So I had these crooked specs. Somehow I know he twisted and stretched it before dropping it on the floor. It was in a terrible condition when I found it. The next day I went to the optometrist to get it fixed. He said the small piece where the screw is supposed to be secured was badly bent. Most probably it might easily break, but he tried to repair anyway after warning me to consider buying a new frame if he fails.

I was like waiting in front of an Operation Theatre, feeling so nervous. I was like fainting every time somebody got out from the room, wishing he/she would bring some good news. (Hello, it’s a new pair!) Sorry for the exaggerations. : ) In the end, he did it and I can enjoy wearing the specs again.

Who would want to be mad when looking at this innocent face.

First Salon Haircut

Sheraz just had his first trip for a haircut. The fringe almost covered his eyes. It didn't seem to be bothering him, but it certainly bothered me. Obviously he really needed a haircut. Last time my father did it, this time we need a better one, for a MYR 16 at Jantzen. I even never had any hair styling at place like this.

It's not Sheraz to sit still, but we sat him on his ayah's lap and we were at ease when he wanted to cooperate with the help of iPhone. He didn't like to be wrapped in the plastic cape and he hated it when the hair fell on his face.

Took this opportunity to take picture of three of us. DH also had his haircut.

We went visiting friends and neighbours three days in a row for Chinese New Year. By the way, Happy new year to my closest relatives, auntie Nasuha and my sister in-law kak Zhi and to everyone who celebrates it!

Below pictures were taken on the first day. So I let them do the explanation here. A picture is worth a thousand words. Cheers.

I met Sabrina and her charming baby, Siredik.

Video: Sheraz, a Musical Boy

Sheraz is very musical. He dances every time he hears music. He can turn around, bounce and do funny movements like chicken dance or even headbanging. If there's a music show on the TV, he would watch and concentrate on it. He even moves while he's seated in the car seat. And yes, he also sings. Sings like he knows every word.

Sheraz and the Bike

One of the reasons why we got him a bike is we want to get rid of his walker. Yes, surprisingly he NOW likes to play IN his walker. Last time he screamed when we put him in, because he knew that putting him there is like leashing him. It might be selfish but it was practical especially during washroom 'emergency call' or while cooking and while no one was around to handle him. Being in the walker limited him from climbing here and there. Why we wanted to get rid and dissemble the walker is that, that thing has become dangerous since he knew how to climb to get into and out from it, which is dangerous. Why we haven't done so is because he still enjoys the music buttons.

So back to the bike. This one is age appropriate, but we were wrong to think that this is a lot safer because how he plays it is no good for my nerves. How he's treating it is way beyond our expectations. He likes to perform stunts on the bike; standing on the seat, trying to not to hold the handle WHILE standing on the seat. How cool is that! Oh yes, this reminds myself, I'm a mother of a BOY.

My Baby, Sheraz

This is like a rebound. I was trying to find something to defeat all the bad things. Then I found these pictures. They were taken three weeks ago during DH's company trip at Damai. I may lost the second LO, but I still have him, this little baby Sheraz.

Is being destructive a milestone?

Other than hide and seek, this has also been his favorite game since he was able to crawl: throwing stuffs! He likes to throw everything, unfortunately up to today. We have all our cabinets and drawers locked, but the lock of one in his room was broken (two times) because he had successfully pushed and pulled it so many times over and over again until it failed. He likes to unload the drawer, dumps all his clothes out, everywhere on the floor. Plus dropping everything out of his cot. He just likes it. And I'm the kind who can't stand to see the mess, so I put everything back and there he repeats throwing everything all over again. I think it's a great fun for him. Seeing the look on his face, he's so happy.

When I'm driving, he likes to play the same thing. Throwing his bolster, Hippie (his orange hippo) and bottle. And he expects me to hand them back. And mind, he's at the back seat. Of course I can 'play' with him during the red light, but not while I'm driving! If I just ignore him he would scream on top of his lung. sigh.

He likes to hold something and bang or knock it. So noisy! If he's knocking and suddenly finds the rhythm, he would just jig like he's playing a music instrument. But once again, I see the look on his face, he's so proud and happy. Who would not stop being mad seeing the little creature smiles!

Now I notice that he likes to play games which involve me or other people. He's been good at playing solo since he was able to sit on his own- 7 months ago. We could leave him playing alone in his room or in his cot. Only recently he wants to be watched while he's playing. He wants us to see that he can now stack the rings instead of just throwing them. But one minute he's stacking them, the other minute he's throwing them all. I just hope he's not being destructive. Hopefully it's more to exporing and being fascinated to play with new things and finding out how it's like to throw things and maybe also finding out other people's reaction to what he's doing.

Now let's assume this a milestone.

Playing Football

Sheraz is 11 months and two weeks old

Video: Sheraz playing Football

Previously he'd run for the ball, catch and roll it with his hand. I had shown him how he's supposed to treat it. He now understands that the ball is meant to be kicked. It's actually more to rolling the ball with his feet, not an actual 'kick'. But at least he got the idea how to play with it.

School Sports and Family Day

I feel like it took me ages to post everything this. So it was Sheraz's School Sports and Family Day. His Smart Care nursery and the nearby Smart Reader pre-school are under the same management. They have this event annually. Of course as for us this was our first time.

Sheraz and other babies under two years old wore this bumble bee costumes. Even though it was their sports day, they didn't take part in any of the games. They were there just like mascots.

They arranged a few games for parents too, such as futsal for mommies, treasure hunt and a lot more. They called me to join a so called beauty contest. We had to apply make-up BUT the husbands had to do the work. Imagine how afraid I was when they asked DH to do the touch up on my face. He didn't even know what eye shadow and blush on are and didn't have the idea how to apply them! The foundation was too much, but it turned out to be not so bad cause he sneaked a bit what some of the guys did. Once everyone's done, we had to do a little catwalk pose in front of the juries. Embarrassing however it was fun. We didn't win but I still got a prize, a goodie bag of free cosmetics.

.. and after all the efforts DH had put, I was forced to join this game. And everthing was so messy. But again it was fun.

Oh well one more thing, guess what, the 'mascot' always got a fan. In this photo they were trying to pose for a picture. Notice that, this fast little boy got this lady's chocolate in his hand.

What a day :D

Party

It's party time! Not Sheraz's yet, it was DH's baby cousin. Unlike me, Sheraz is not afraid of mascots.

Older kids were playing.

Sheraz wanted to join as well. Look at the face. Kesian, he's too small for the game.

But finally he found something to play with. "ermm Bunda, I guess this will do."

TV and the Baby

Some parents may say a big NO to TV, but i just can't help getting him to sit or settle down while I can get dressed, go to the bathroom, or do housework, anything along those lines. He used to watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Hotdog!) until I bought him the Baby Bright Series when he was three months old. It's a great programme though and he loves it.

I used to put him in his little chair until he was able to mobile and the chair leaned forward, fell down with him on it. Now I sit him in his walker, he doesn't need to be buckled up, he can play and watch whenever he wants. Sometimes I caught him laughing and gets excited when he's watching, especially during certain scenes. I don't feel bad about it because it's not like he sits and watches TV all day. He plays and randomly looks for about 2 minutes and continues to play. He has too much to do than to sit on his bums all day!

This is when he was younger.

Sometimes he just doesn't mind watching the tv on the car seat.
